Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
The RamLog FMECA/FMEA capability is based on a System Functional and/or Physical
Breakdown Structure and it provides the user with the ability to perform a Functional/Physical
Analysis. The data fields are tailored to the requirements of MIL-STD-1388-2B/DEF-STAN-0060
with the objective to assist during the identification of corrective maintenance
tasks.

Data Fields
The following data fields are available:
LCN |
Displays the Logistic Control Number. (LCN)
LCN Name
Displays the LCN name or description.
Seq
The sequence of the failure mode |
FM Code
The failure mode code.
Mode Description
A description of the failure mode.
Class Code
A one-position code that categorizes the failure resulting from the identified failure
mode as a technical (T) or an operational (O) failure.
Local Effect
Describe the consequences of the failure mode local to the item operation or function.
This is the consequence a failure has on other functions or items.
Next Effect
Describe the consequences of the failure mode on the next higher item operation
or function. This is the consequence a failure has on the next level.
End Effect
Describe the consequences of the failure mode and effect on the item operation or
function. This is the consequence a failure has on the mission, e.g. mission abort,
delayed)
Detection Method
The method by which a failure will be detected by various operational and maintenance
personnel. This is defined by the user.
Comp. Provisions
Describe the existing compensation provisions to compensate for the effect or prevention
of the failure, e.g. redundancy test procedures, design |
Design Change
A description that identifies and determines the recommended design changes and
the result of each recommendation for which the analysis indicates that a re-design
might be warranted.
Cause
This field should contain, identify and describe all probable independent causes
for each failure mode.
Remarks
Any additional comments, notes or remarks on the failure mode.

Reports
The following standard FMECA/FMEA reports are available for a Functional/Physical
Analysis: The user also have the ability to customize (select the required data
field using the XML report capability).
- FMECA Report
- FMECA Recommendation Report
